Marinelli a Big Factor in McClain Coming to Dallas

Defensive tackle Terrell McClain signed a three-year deal back in March

Itโ€™s no secret that the presence of Rod Marinelliโ€™s presence in Dallas helped the Cowboys land defensive tackle Henry Melton, who went to a Pro Bowl under Marinelli in 2012 when both were with the Bears. Apparently, Melton wasnโ€™t the only defensive player who was drawn to the Cowboys this offseason, at least in part, because of their respect for Marinelli.

In an interview with Sirius XMโ€™s NFL Radio over the weekend, defensive tackle Terrell McClain was asked how much of a factor the defensive coordinator played in his decision to sign a three-year deal with Dallas in early March.

โ€œIt factored in a lot,โ€ McClain said, via the Dallas Morning News. โ€œHe actually came down to my pro day and actually did the drills at my pro day three years ago when I was coming out of college, so I had a chance to talk to him. He was telling me all about himself. Heโ€™s a great guy, a great coach and Iโ€™m really fortunate to be able to be coached by him the next three years.โ€

After three seasons with the Panthers, the Patriots and the Texans, McClain comes to town with 29 career tackles and a sack.
