Dallas grabs eighth overall pick in NHL draft

For the first time since 1996, the Dallas Stars have a pick in the top 10 in the NFL Entry Draft.

The Stars snagged the eighth overall pick in the draft during the NHL's Draft Drawing on Tuesday night.

The New York Islanders, who had the best percentage chance of winning the drawing, grabbed the No. 1 pick.

The first round of the draft will be June 26 in Montreal. Rounds two through seven will be held on June 27.

The Stars could use some good news right about now. Dallas will miss the playoffs this year for the first time since 2002. The team made it as far as the Western Conference Finals last season.
