Okay irrational dreamers, listen up. You’re not going to like this but it’s a fact:
Johnny Football isn’t going to be Johnny Cowboy.
Connecting you to your favorite North Texas sports teams as well as sports news around the globe.
First and foremost, because of a guy named Tony Romo. As I’ve said before, Romo is a Top 10 quarterback in the prime of his career. You may have issues about his late-season interceptions and his back surgery, but you can’t deny that the Cowboys are as set and comfortable at quarterback more than any other position on the team.
Secondly, even if the Cowboys wanted Johnny Manziel they couldn’t have him. Manziel is at worst a Top 5 pick, and at best he’ll go No. 1 overall to the Texans.
Right, Jerry Jones?
“We’ll never see him” Jones said of Manziel on KRLD-FM radio. “We couldn’t get there if we traded three drafts to get him.”
Not that the Cowboys don’t see the former Aggie and Heisman Trophy winner being a star at the next level. Dallas met with him at last weekend’s NFL Scouting Combine and loves his unique skill set of athleticism and accuracy.
But when you’re on the 8-8 treadmill with gaping holes on defense, you don’t have the luxury of drafting your quarterback of the future.
“We have Tony Romo, and Tony Romo is our ticket.”
Sorry, No. 2 in Cowboys’ blue is a waste of your daydreams.
