Rangers Excited About Charitable 50-50s

Thanks to Texas voters passing Proposition 4 last week, the Texas Rangers will have a new bit going on during all home games next season.

There will be charitable 50-50s — common at pro sports events in other states — that allow teams to sell raffle tickets, with half of the pot going to a fan and half of the pot going to a charity.

Thanks to the vote, the Rangers games will now have a raffle every night, with a lucky fan taking home a nice stack of cash, and the other half going to the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.

“We are gratified and honored by the support,” the organization said in a statement. “We plan to begin work immediately on the details of our charitable raffle for the 2016 season at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

“The funds raised by the charitable raffle will allow the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation to increase its scope and resources in its mission to improving the lives of children in need within our community.”
