The Dallas Cowboys vaunted young offensive line put together their worst performance of the season in the Thanksgiving Day loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but they remain confident in what they can do as a unit moving forward.
“I think we definitely had some things that we took a step back on--did some things that were a little bit uncharacteristic and we don’t really know why. Just not us,” second-year center Travis Frederick told the team’s website. “I think that that’s the biggest thing going forward just doing what we do, not trying to do too much, not trying to overthink things or make it somebody else’s job easier by doing more than just your job.”
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett remains confident in the big men up front, as well. Granted, they’re a very young group, with four of the five starters under the age of 26. But Garrett believes the team is mentally tough beyond their years.
“I think they’re a heck of a group. I think they’re really good football players and they’re the right kind of guys,” Garrett said. “I think they’re tough physically and mentally, and I think they’ll respond well. They have a tremendous amount of pride in being a good unit.”
