Carr on Claiborne: “It's Only Going To Make Everybody Better”

Brandon Carr figures to start opposite Morris Claiborne in 2012

On Thursday night, the Dallas Cowboys traded from no. 14 to no. 6 to land LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne. The top rated corner in the draft, Claiborne figures to start opposite Brandon Carr--who signed a five-year deal worth around $50 million this offseason--for Dallas in 2012.

For his part, Carr, who was reportedly watching the draft on Thursday night with a few teammates at Cowboys Stadium, didn’t take long to put his stamp of approval on the selection.

Shortly after the pick was in, Carr tweeted: "Uh ohhhhhhhhh it's on now!!!!!!!!!!"

The veteran corner has since clarified his tweet (not that it needed much clarification), saying that Claiborne has the ability to immediately upgrade the Dallas secondary.

It's only going to make everybody better," Carr said of the pick, per the Dallas Morning News. “As far as secondary, this league is so pass-happy now that you need an ample amount of DBs to go out there and defend the pass. I'm all about competition.

"If [Claiborne] can push me, I can push him. We both get something out of it. As far as the other DBs we got on the squad, we're all going to push each other. That's how we're going to get to that elite level.”
