Celebrities have slammed Walter James Palmer over the killing of Cecil the lion, calling the American dentist a “coward,” and urging that his license be revoked.
Palmer has admitted to killing the 13-year-old predator, a favorite with foreign tourists and the subject of a study by Oxford University, but said he had hired professional guides and believed all the necessary hunting permits were in order.
Palmer sent an apology letter to his patients, but that has not stopped stars from sharing strong words about him.
Betty White slammed the Minnesota dentist, saying to The Associated Press on Thursday: “You don’t want to hear some of the things I want to do to that man."
“It’s such a heartbreaker," White continued. "You can’t even talk about it, and to see this king of the jungle and personifying it in every way, this gorgeous creature. How can somebody do that?”
Mia Farrow tweeted the dentist’s full office address on Wednesday, saying: "#CecilTheLion -Gentle protector of 6 cubs. Loved by many. Killed by Dentist Walter Palmer.” She later deleted the tweet.
Earlier this week, Jimmy Kimmel took time out of his late-night show to reprimand the dentist, saying: “I’m honestly curious to know why a human being would feel compelled to do that. How is that fun?"
