Three alleged ISIS supporters faced German judges on terror charges for the first time Wednesday, NBC News reported. Two of the three were arrested a year ago after police stopped them at a highway rest area on their way to Syria, and the third was arrested earlier this year for helping them. In court Wednesday, the main defendant made an emotional appeal, saying that his relatives had suffered at the hands of Bashar al-Assad in Syria and that he didn't know the atrocities ISIS would commit when he tried to join them a year ago.
