Police: East Texas Bank Robber Jailed after Search

Police in East Texas say a bank robber was captured about eight minutes after the heist when officers found him out of breath about a block away from the building.

A Tyler Police Department spokesman said 31-year-old Riley Womack was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. He said Womack robbed the Austin Bank in Tyler on Monday before fleeing on foot.

Officers said Womack had shed some of his clothing but that he matched the profile of the robber. They said he was carrying a bag that had the stolen cash and a weapon.

No injuries were reported. Police did not say how much money was taken.

It was not immediately clear if Womack has an attorney.
