Plano Home Heavily Damaged by Fire

Plano firefighters worked for several hours to get control of a house fire early Monday morning.

The fire started at about 2 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Croston Drive.

Firefighters told NBC 5 the fire started in the garage of the two-story home.

The residents of the home were able to escape the fire without injury after being alerted to the fire by smoke detectors.

Because of the heat and a need for frequent breaks, more than 50 firefighters were called to battle the fire.

Firefighters expect to be on the scene for several hours as investigators try to determine what started the fire.
