Authorities say four masked men robbed a broker of up to $1 million in diamonds near a fashionable north Dallas mall.
Shortly before noon Thursday, the man was getting into his vehicle in a parking garage near the Galleria when four men in a red SUV blocked his car. The four, who spoke Spanish, pulled the man out at gunpoint. He was stabbed twice in the leg during a struggle and was hospitalized with non-lifethreatening injuries.
The attackers got away with between $500,000 and $1 million worth of diamonds, authorities said.
The heist was the latest in a string of attacks on diamond brokers in the Dallas area and elsewhere in the country. Police said the assailants are typically from outside the country and flee the area quickly.
