Man Charged in Texas Slaying, Lone Suspect in Judge's Shooting

Prosecutors say a man charged in a Houston-area fatal shooting is the lone suspect in the wounding of a judge in Austin overseeing his probation in a 2012 fraud case.

Chimene Hamilton Onyeri is accused in the May slaying of Jacobi Alexander. Onyeri was being held on a murder charge with bond set Wednesday at $1 million.

Prosecutor Justin Keiter said during Wednesday's court hearing in Houston that Onyeri is the only suspect in the Nov. 6 shooting of Judge Julie Kocurek. She was attacked while outside her Austin home.

Defense attorney Samuel Adamo says Onyeri has not been charged in the judge's shooting and no evidence has been presented linking him to that case.

Prosecutors in Austin didn't immediately return a message for comment Wednesday.
