Hasan on First Day of Trial: “I Am the Shooter”

Major Nidal Hasan said little during the first day of his trial in the Fort Hood shootings. The Army psychiatrist is defending himself and told jurors evidence would show he was the gunman in the attack that claimed 13 lives. He declined to cross-examine most witnesses, including shooting victims who survived. The trial is expected to last several weeks.
