Two suburban Houston sisters are being accused of taking part in a scheme to defraud home decor retailer Garden Ridge Pottery of more than $2 million.
Sandra Johnson has been charged with wire fraud and money laundering while her sister Natalie Jeng has been charged with conspiracy to launder funds.
Prosecutors allege Johnson, Jeng and others submitted false injury claims for which the sisters would authorize payment.
Johnson worked as a claims manager for Garden Ridge while Jeng worked as a claims adjuster for a third-party administrator hired by Garden Ridge to administer and investigate claims.
Prosecutors allege the fraudulent settlement proceeds would be split among the alleged injury victim, Johnson, Jeng as well as other members of the scheme.
Court records did list attorneys for Johnson and Jeng.
