DART Officer Accused of Assaulting Man, Ramming Car

A man tells Lancaster police a DART officer assaulted him and rammed his car Thursday

Police said a Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer was arrested after assaulting a man and ramming a vehicle in Lancaster Thursday.

Lancaster police said they responded to a call about a fight in progress at an apartment complex pool in the 1600 block of North Bluegrove Road at about 3:45 p.m.

A man told police that 50-year-old Elbert Corker — later identified as a DART officer — assaulted him during an argument. The man and four other then left the complex.

Police said the man told them Corker followed them in his personal vehicle and rammed into their vehicle, causing them to crash.

Authorities said several witnesses verified the man's claim.

DeSoto jail records indicate Corker was charged with five counts of aggravated assault by a public servant and one count of assault causing bodily injury.

Corker, who police said has been with the department since 2002, was placed on administrative leave.
