City of Maypearl Without Water Wednesday Afternoon

Water will soon be back on in Maypearl, the city has been without water most of Wednesday afternoon.

A post on the city's Facebook page says a leak occurred on the main line leading from the elevated tower and apparently a valve was frozen.

The administrator of the Facebook page says workers hoped to have a new valve in place, the leak repaired and water flowing again by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Ronnie Neill with the Maypearl Independent School District said the water line was fixed shortly before 5:30 p.m. but wasn't flowing in the school buildings yet.

City administrators said they ordered a a boil water notice when water returns.

Residents have been advised they need to boil the water vigorously for two minutes before drinking it.

When classes resume, school administrators plan to label all water fountains and ice machines "do not use" and a plan is in place to sanitize facilities when it is safe to drink the water again.

A local church will supply ice and Lowe's in nearby Waxahachie is delivering two pallets of bottled water for students and student athletes.

Residents are urged to visit the city's website to sign up for text alerts about the water issue and other important information.
