Get ready for more work on Interstate 35E.
Leaders at the 35Express Project announced that Thursday at 9 p.m. the southbound entrance ramp at Belt Line Road in Carrollton will close to traffic as work on the stretch moves forward.
The latest news from around North Texas.
The closure is expected to last through mid 2017 with delays to traffic as drivers will have to make their way to the Crosby Road entrance ramp instead.
The 30-mile, $1.4 billion overhaul of the interstate from Denton to Dallas broke ground in October of 2013 and should be right about at the halfway point with a mid-2017 completion date.
In Denton County, some of the biggest changes have included the removal of the Farm-to-Market 407 and Corinth Parkway bridges, to be converted into underpasses, and the construction of an additional bridge over Lake Lewisville.
Within the next 30 days, the project’s website lists several other work spots for drivers to be aware of, many of which consist of traffic shifts or overnight closures.
- Utility work on North Texas Boulevard in Denton
- Work beginning on the Loop 288 and Mayhill Road Bridges in Denton
- Panel placement on the Lake Lewisville Bridge
- Traffic shifting at FM 407 in Lewisville
- Beam setting at the Belt Line overpass in Carrollton with some closures
A full list of work can be found on the 30-day outlook on the 35 Express website.
Throughout the project, crews ask that drivers remain aware of changes, slowdown in work zones and give workers plenty of space.
