Everything is bigger in Texas, and that goes for the waistlines too.
Men's Health is out with its America's Fattest Cities 2010 list and five Texas cities made the top 10, with Corpus Christi topping the list.
Here's where the Texas cities ranked as well as their "grade":
Rank | City | Grade |
1 | Corpus Christi | F |
3 | El Paso | F |
4 | Dallas | F |
7 | San Antonio | F |
9 | Houston | D- |
13 | Lubbock | D- |
54 | Arlington | C+ |
66 | Fort Worth | B- |
97 | Austin | A |
Men's Health explains the rankings:
To arrive at our rankings, we calculated the percentage of people who are overweight, the percentage with type 2 diabetes, the percentage who haven't left the couch in a month (CDC Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System); the money spent on junk food (Bureau of Labor Statistics); and finally, the number of people who ate fast food nine or more times in a month (Mediamark Research).
Men's Health did give the Lone Star State props for trying to fight the battle of the bulge with a bill that would require chain restaurants to list nutrition information, especially the calorie count, on their menus.
