Texas Tourist, 20, Drowns While Trying to Swim Across River in Berlin

A 20-year-old Texan drowned in Germany's capital early Sunday after trying to swim across a river, police said.The young man jumped into Berin's Spree River with a 21-year-old friend, who managed to safely swim across the river, the The Associated Press reported.A Danish lifeguard and another passerby tried to save the 20-year-old after he didn't make it to the shore. Firefighters took him out of the river, but he died later at the hospital.Police told the Associated Press they believe he was intoxicated and also under the influence of drugs when he jumped into the river.His name hasn't been released.The Associated Press contributed to this report.  Continue reading...
