Eloise Cullum, Serial Entrepreneur Who Helped Build Dallas' Tom Thumb Chain, Dies at 95

Eloise Brooks Cullum wore many hats during her more than 60 years as a Dallas-area business and civic leader.She and two brothers built the Tom Thumb grocery chain from the wholesale food business their father started in 1919.She was a longtime volunteer and became executive director of the YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas. She also became a catalyst for retail growth in Rockwall, where she started a business that evolved to become Goliad Place, a group of shops painted "Eloise yellow."Cullum, 95, died Monday of natural causes at Presbyterian Village North in Dallas.  Continue reading...
