Jerry Expects Rob Ryan Back In '12

Jerry Jones believes defensive coordinator Rob Ryan will return to the team in 2012

It appears that Rob Ryan will be back at the helm of the Cowboys’ defense in 2012.

Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported yesterday that owner and general manager Jerry Jones, in a recent radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan, said that he expects Ryan to return for a second season. Hill doesn’t specify exactly what Jones said, but we do know it was a vote of confidence for the defensive coordinator’s return.

Of course, Ryan would probably hope to be in the running for one of the head coaching vacancies around the league, but after a less-than-stellar year as the Cowboys’ coordinator, we’d imagine his stock has dropped somewhat since, say, the beginning of the year when his acquisition was front page news.

In his first year in charge of the Cowboys defense, Ryan’s defense finished 14th in total defense, and 17th in points allowed.
