Stephen Jones: Cowboys Aren't Blinded to Gregory's Issues

Randy Gregory slipped all the way to the Cowboys at no. 60 in last week's draft

The Dallas Cowboys want you to know that they weren’t blinded to Randy Gregory’s issues by his massive upside when they made him the 60th overall pick last week.

In an interview with 103.3-FM ESPN Radio on Wednesday, Jones said the Cowboys exhausted every resource in doing their due diligence on Gregory. So, when Gregory fell into the lap of “America’s Team” late in the second round, they were prepared not only to pull the trigger, but pull it with the confidence that they knew what they were getting.

“Believe me, we certainly have our eyes wide open on this one,” Jones said, per the Dallas Morning News. “We know there’s a lot of work to be done. We feel like organizationally, we have the infrastructure in place that we can help him become a better person off the field and ultimately be the type of well-rounded man you want in your organization. I think he could really have success with the Cowboys organization both on and off the field. He seems committed to doing it and we’re certainly committed to helping him.”

Talk of the support system began pretty much immediately after Dallas made the pick, and already, Cowboys legends Michael Irvin and Charles Haley have come out in support of the pick and Gregory--saying they will be there for the Nebraska product if needed.
