Potential Target: Chris Ivory

In an ongoing thread of posts, we'll discuss potential free agent targets for the Dallas Cowboys coming off a 4-12 season, thanks in large part to several key injuries.

Target: Chris Ivory, RB

2015 stats: 247 carries, 1,070 yards, 7 TDs; 30 catches, 217 yards, 1 TD

Ivory has been a guy I've liked for a good while now, and you could make a pretty strong case he should've been the starter in New Orleans all those years before he joined the Jets. He had a career year in 2015 with his first 1,000-yard rushing season in a day when 1,000 yards is a big deal again with the focus now on the passing game and running back by committee situations.

He's a true workhorse guy who can carry the load of a rushing game and would pair nicely with Darren McFadden next year before he rides off into the sunset after the 2016 season, which would give way to an Ivory-centric rushing attack.

He's likely looking for his first (and last) big contract at age 27, but how big that will be is yet to be determined.
