Kansas Wins Big 12 Championship and #1 Seed

It was much closer than the 84-74 final score indicated, but Kansas won it's 3d straight Big 12 Championship over Texas. In doing so, it is a virtual lock that the Jayhawks clinched the final #1 seed for the NCAA Tournament with Memphis, UCLA and UNC.

Usually Kansas wins with a very balanced offense. In this game, Mario Chalmers stepped it up. He came through with 30 points -- 24 of the points coming from 3-point shooting. He and Brandon Rush combined to go 14-21 from outside. The Jayhawks were 60% from the outside and only 11-28 (39%) elsewhere.

Texas played well, they shot better than 40% from outside, they were +7 on turnovers, and had balanced scoring. It just wasn't enough as Kansas just stayed close and then pulled away in the final minutes.
