WATCH: SpaceX Falcon 9 Launch Coming Up

The private aerospace company SpaceX is ready to attempt one of its most difficult missions yet. One of its Falcon 9 rockets is set to send a communications satellite into an orbit 22,000 miles above the equator. The launch, which takes place in Cape Canaveral, Fla., was scheduled for 5:39 p.m. ET. but the launch clock was reset due to technical issues. The rocket was originally scheduled to take off on Monday, but the launch was scrubbed because of needed modifications to the power supply. The private rocket Falcon 9 has sent supplies to the International Space Station about 250 miles in space but it has never sent a satellite into a 22,000 miles high geosynchronous orbit. In this orbit the satellite will appear to hover in one place as the Luxembourg-based SES communications spacecraft joins a network of 54 others serving Southeast Asia.
