The City of Southlake rolled out 20 new body cameras for police officers Friday, according to a city report.
"This is in keeping with our mission to achieve the highest standards of safety and security for the people we serve, while being as transparent and accountable as possible," said James Brandon, Southlake police chief.
The roll out of new body cameras came paired with 26 new dashboard cameras.
Southlake is the latest North Texas city to equip officers with recording devices. In Dallas, officers are due to receive 200 body cameras in January, with Police Chief David Brown hoping to have 1,000 officers outfitted with body cameras within five years.
