Mother Says Son, 3, Fatally Shot in Dallas Road Rage Incident Monday Morning

Dallas police are hoping the public can help piece together what happened leading up to the death of 3-year-old Jalexus Washington.

Dallas police are trying to determine what happened when a 3-year-old boy was fatally shot in the face Monday morning.

According to police, the boy and his mother were seen at a donut shop at 9410 Walnut Street at about 9:38 a.m. Less than 20 minutes later, at 9:57 a.m., the boy's mother arrived at the Medical City Dallas emergency room saying her son had been shot in the head.

Dallas police officers were called to the emergency room about 20 minutes later.

Dallas police said Monday evening that they were investigating the mother's report that her son, identified by the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office Tuesday as Jalexus Washington, was shot in a road rage incident.

The woman told police there was a confrontation with another driver near Forest Meadow Park, near the intersection of Whitehurst and Arbor Park drives, but so far officers have been unable to locate a crime scene and are asking for help from anyone who might have seen anything.

Police spent several hours looking over the woman's car, a 2011 dark blue Subaru Legacy with paper tags, in the hospital parking lot on Monday before towing it away.

Investigators with the Dallas Police Department are working to learn what happened between the visit to the donut shop and the arrival at the ER.
