Baby Bella Becomes a Dallas Star

The Dallas Stars brought tears to the eyes of a father who was recently united with his baby who was found abandoned at an apartment complex.

Trevor Daley and The Dallas Stars Foundation expressed an interest in helping William Bynum after seeing Baby Bella's story on NBCDFW.com.

Bynum, 33, said he had no idea that he had a daughter until police called him and told him his former girlfriend, Angela Castro, had abandoned her baby shortly after giving birth.

An apartment resident found the baby wrapped in a blanket on June 10 at the Cambridge Apartments in the 5900 block of East Northwest Highway.

Daley, who just had a baby earlier this month, surprised Bynum at his apartment Wednesday afternoon with gifts for Baby Bella, who her father has named Rhiannon Bella.

Bynum was moved to tears as Daley presented him with diapers, baby wipes, and baby Stars outfits.  On behalf of The Dallas Stars Foundation, Daley presented Bynum with a $2500 check to start a college fund for baby Rhiannon and matched the amount with his own money.

Bynum, who works as an Elvis impersonator, is a big fan of the team and has his home decorated with Stars memorabilia.

He said he'll never understand why Castro abandoned their child, but wants move forward and give baby Bella a good life.

Castro, 33, was arrested on June 24 and charged with child endangerment, a second-degree felony.

If Castro is convicted, she faces two to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
