Dallas Council Incumbents Rake in Campaign Cash; Most Challengers Struggle to Keep Pace

City Council member Lee Kleinman has been blasted as a "menacing threat" to public safety by the Dallas Police Association. And Mayor Pro Tem Monica Alonzo has drawn five opponents, including one backed by one of her fellow council members, who believe she is vulnerable in her bid for a sixth term.But their latest campaign finance reports, filed Thursday, show they have plenty of friends, too.Alonzo raked in $74,325 in campaign contributions in the first three months of the campaign and will enter the last month of the campaign with more than $140,000 in the bank. And Kleinman raised nearly $101,975 in the first three months of the year -- the most of any City Council candidate.He has vowed not to rest yet, even though his opponent, real estate blogger Candy Evans, reported raising only $11,565."I won't take anything for granted," Kleinman said.
