These Guys Are “Super”

Reebok Super Team Defense has many local names

As we discussed yesterday, the Reebok Super Team Defense revealed in Dave Campbell's Texas Football last week proved to be loaded with DFW talent, including a defensive line exclusively reserved for local players.

So now we take a look at the rest of the first team's local players, and in the coming days we'll recognize the second- and third-team offenses and defenses with local kids.

LB - Tevin Jackson, Garland - An inside backer at Garland, Jackson will likely move outside when he gets to Texas, where he committed back in February. He's 6 foot 2 inches tall, but he plays more like he's 6-6 with his long frame and wingspan. He's the 13th-ranked outside linebacker according to Rivals.com.

LB - Corey Nelson, Dallas Skyline - On a team loaded with college prospects, Nelson might be the biggest of them all for the Raiders. He was an absolute destroyer for the Raiders last year, racking up an obscene 156 tackles to go with 12 sacks, giving him 24 over the past two years. He also blocked eight punts as a junior. He has 11 major college offers.

DB - Eddrick Loften, Irving Nimitz - A bit of a rarity at the high school level, Loften is a pure safety when most college safeties are former linebackers or cornerbacks. He has 210 tackles in the past two seasons and picked off six passes last year. He's also got a reputation all safeties want -- a heavy hitter.

DB - Kacy Rodgers, Southlake Carroll - With 15 college offers in his pocket, Rodgers is showing he's a corner many coaches drool over -- the big kind. Rodgers is 6 foot 2 inches, very tall for a cornerback. He picked off three passes last year and broke up 10 passes as opposing QBs stayed away from his side of the field. His dad, Kacy Rodgers, is a former NFL corner and an assistant at the University of Miami, so the 'Canes would seem to be a frontrunner for his services.

DB - Adrian White, DeSoto - The 13th best cornerback in the country, according to Rivals.com, White has everything you look for at his position. He has good height at 6-foot, is rock-solid at 180 pounds and runs a 4.41 40-yard dash to go with his 4.25-second shuttle. He shunned 13 big-time schools to take an offer from Texas back in March.
