Hall of Fame quarterback Roger Staubach knows well that, good or bad, every Dallas Cowboys season is seen as a big one by the North Texas faithful. But with major changes going into effect--two new coordinators, a new playcaller in Bill Callahan and a brand new defense--he believes 2013 is especially crucial to the team’s immediate prospects.
“Every year is a big year. But this year is even more important with some of the changes being made….. I think Dallas is very capable with a little luck, keeping people healthy, of getting into the playoffs and anything can happen,” Staubach said, per the Dallas Morning News. “I am still a believer. I do think this year is a very important year for both Tony, Jason , the whole team as far as what is expected of them.
“Jerry Jones has put a little pressure on them. I just hope they stay healthy because I feel if we stay healthy we’ll have a good shot at the playoffs.”
In town to be honored by Time Warner Cable as a leader in the Dallas business community, Staubach mentioned that he’d like to help the Cowboys in any way he can, even joking that his arm felt good.
“But,” he added, “I don’t think I can run that well.”
