Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has yet to participate in organized team activities after undergoing a procedure to remove a cyst from his back back in April and, according to the team’s owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, Romo’s absence could extend through next week’s mandatory veteran mini-camp.
“We’re probably going to be real conservative there and it’s probably unlikely,” Jones said, per the Dallas Morning News. “I know I said probably unlikely but it’s still probably unlikely that he’ll be in mini-camp.”
Romo has been present for this first session of OTAs, but has been serving more as a coach than a player, stalking the sidelines and talking to the younger players on the roster as he rests his back.
Romo had previously expressed some optimism that he would be able to participate in mini-camp.
