In a weekly post, we'll talk about where teams in the NFC East sit after each weekend of play.
1. Dallas Cowboys (1-0) — This is a pretty easy choice, but it's not a complete no-brainer. The Cowboys went into the Meadowlands to open the season for the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants on Wednesday night, in front of the entire country, and for the first time since the John Elway-less Denver Broncos, the defending champ lost its first game of the season. Tony Romo played one of the best games of his life, DeMarco Murray showed he can be a feature back and carry offensive load, and Romo found a new No. 3 receiver in Kevin Ogletree. All of that, and Rob Ryan's defense looked phenomenal with its makeover in the secondary and some stellar play from Demarcus Ware and Sean Lee.
2. Washington Redskins (1-0) — We knew RG3 would be a special talent, and we knew he'd have success this season, but what he did on Sunday in New Orleans was what no one could've expected. The rookie QB out of Baylor was flawless, starting the game 11-for-11 with two touchdowns and finishing with over 250 yards and nearly 50 yards on the ground. The Redskins hung out to outlast the Drew Brees-led Saints in what was one of the more entertaining games with the Skins pulling it out, 40-32. The defense was suspect, to say the least, but you also have to look at who they were up against, then it doesn't look quite as bad.
3. New York Giants (0-1) — Yeah, I know. The Giants lost a game. How can they be No. 3 in the power rankings? Well, because they nearly won and they had their own promising moments. The Giants are probably going to be one of the teams in the NFL that slide quite a bit from the previous season. It happens every year as really only half of the NFC playoff teams make it the following the year. I'm betting the Giants don't. Their O-line is in shambles, and they're seemingly afraid to run the ball sometimes even though they have a capable back in Ahmad Bradshaw.
4. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) — Yes, the Eagles won on Sunday. But they're still in last place in the power rankings, and it's not even really close. The Eagles lost by one stinkin' point to the Cleveland Browns, with their rookie running back and rookie quarterback, who tossed four interceptions. But the only problem was, so did Michael Vick. The Eagles just looked awful, and should have won this game going away. They'll find their way back up this list, but for now, they're at the bottom.
