Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent had a routine court appearance in his intoxication manslaughter case Thursday, but given the circumstances of his case, it’s anything but routine.
The deadly drunk driving case against Dallas Cowboys player Josh Brent is moving forward.
The lineman showed up at the courthouse in Dallas Thursday to meet with his attorney, George Milner.
A grand jury already indicted Brent for intoxication manslaughter in the crash that killed his friend and teammate Jerry Brown, Jr.
Brent remained silent as he walked in and out of the Crowley Courthouse, where he spent about an hour meeting with his attorney. Brent needed to show up to prove he hasn’t skipped out of town, or on his $500,000 bond, and that he will face the felony charge for the deadly crash.
Brent looked very serious, as is the punishment he’s facing includes up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
The Cowboys nose tackle had been behind the wheel of a Mercedes in Irving in December when he lost control, hit a curb, and flipped the car. The wreck killed his long-time friend and Cowboys teammate.
Investigators said Brent's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

Brent has not entered a plea yet to tell the judge whether he’s guilty. His attorney said his case is not to that point.
Milner told NBC 5 that there’s a lot of evidence in the “complex case” and that this is an emotional time for his client. He’s dealing with the loss of his friend and possibly his freedom.
“We appreciate the support. I’ve had a lot of people express a great deal of support. We appreciate that support, but there’s a lot going on here. A lot more than this case,” said Milner.
Milner said Brent’s next mandatory check-in at the courthouse is March 7.
