Will the Warriors Visit the White House?

"We have not received an invitation to the White House, but will make those decisions when and if necessary," the Warriors organization said in a statement

Martin Jones made a fantastic save to force a shootout but the Coyotes were the better team in a loss for San Jose…

With winning a championship routinely comes the opportunity to visit the White House, but it's not clear if the newly-crowned Golden State Warriors will pay a visit to President Donald Trump just yet.

“Today is all about celebrating our championship," the organization wrote in a statement released Tuesday. "We have not received an invitation to the White House, but will make those decisions when and if necessary.”

A report surfaced shortly after Game 5 claiming that the Warriors would unanimously refuse any invitation to the White House, but that report was clearly debunked by the organization's statement.

President Trump has already welcomed members of the New England Patriots and Clemson Tigers football team to the White House after their championship runs this past winter. Whether or not the Warriors will join those teams remains to be seen.

One Warrior has already publicly stated he won't make the trip if the offer is placed on the table. Back in February, guard Shaun Livingston was asked about visiting the White House, but he told a local radio station, "I definitely wouldn't go."

Even if the entire team follows Livingston and says "no" to the White House, that doesn't mean they still wouldn't make a trip to Washington D.C. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who represents San Francisco, on Tuesday took to Twitter to say, "The @Warriors leadership is inspiring. I'd be honored to welcome the team to the U.S. Capitol. #DubNation."

Back in 2015, the Warriors did pay a visit to a Barack Obama-governed White House after capturing the organization's first title in 40 years.
