Free Agent Friday for Andruw Jones

Rangers slugger likely to leave for another team.

Andruw Jones' time with the Texas Rangers could end Friday.

Jones has a clause in his minor league contract that allows him to become a free agent March 20 if the Rangers do not put him on the big league roster, which appears unlikely. An official announcement will be made Friday.

Jones is hitting .258 with one home run and two RBIs in 13 spring games but has struck out 14 times in 31 at-bats.

He hasn't played in a Cactus League game for the Rangers this week. His only action has been in minor league games.
Jones said he is waiting for a call from his agent, Scott Boras.

The Rangers did not respond to questions about the deadline and whether Jones would be placed on the roster.
