FC Dallas had a challenging playoff schedule to make it to the MLS Cup for the first time in franchise history.
Players say when they take the field against the Colorado Rapids on Sunday, they'll relish the limelight shining on the sport they love.
The players worked out at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco on Wednesday, and they'll do the same Thursday before heading to Toronto.
It's the first time in the history of the championship game that the two teams fighting for the title were seeded in the lower half of their conference brackets.
Team captain Daniel Hernandez said he understands why the team hasn't gotten the fanfare of other professional sports franchises, but he hopes that will change now.
"People want to be interested in a winning team, and I think we have developed that culture of winning," he said.
"Obviously, we hope that y'all continue to come on out, because we know there are thousands of people in the city of Dallas that love soccer and would love to see us getting that attention, and I think this team deserves it," he said of all the media coverage.

He said that playing so close to home and under the direction of his former SMU coach makes the championship run even more meaningful.
