Armstrong Tweets During Plano Bike Ride

Lance Armstrong went on a leisurely bike ride through suburban Dallas and used Twitter to share tweets from stops along the way in Plano, his estranged hometown.

Armstrong rode Friday in Tour de Plano and tweeted from a middle school, Plano East Senior High, Southfork Ranch and other locations. The low-key, apparently solo ride didn't appear to draw crowds like past Twitter-promoted rides he has done.

Many of his 1.8 million-plus followers reposted his tweets, further highlighting the suburb. The Dallas Morning News reports it was unusual for Armstrong based upon his well-documented disdain for Plano. He once called it "soul-deadened" in his 2000 autobiography, "t's Not About the Bike."

He met with RadioShack, his new team sponsor, Friday afternoon.

The seven-time Tour de France winner from Austin finished third in the Tour de France in July while racing for Astana.
