Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler has been named the American League Co-Player of the Week. It is the second time he has won the weekly award.
Kinsler shared the award with Kansas City pitcher Zack Greinke.
Kinsler batted .556 (15-27) with 2 home runs, 4 doubles, a triple, 9 runs scored and 6 RBI in 6 games last week, posting a .500 on-base percentage and an .864 slugging mark. He led the majors in average (.556), hits (15), extra-base hits (7), and runs scored (9), also tying for the big league lead in doubles (4). He also went 6-for-6 while becoming the 4th player in team history to hit for the cycle in the Rangers’ 19-6 win on Wednesday vs. Baltimore. With that effort, Kinsler also became the first major league player in the modern era (since 1900) to produce a 6-hit cycle in a 9-inning game.
This is the second time Kinsler has won the award, the other honor coming for the week of April 9-15, 2007.

Through Monday’s games, Kinsler leads all major league players in total bases (44), extra-base hits (12), slugging (.880), hits (tied-23), and doubles (tied-7). He also ranks among American League leaders in average (3rd, .460), on-base percentage (3rd, .518), stolen bases (3rd, 6), RBI (T4th, 14), runs (T4th, 13), and home runs (T5th, 4). He leads the Rangers in all of these categories except home runs, as Nelson Cruz has 5 home runs this season. Kinsler has reached base safely via hit or walk in each of the club’s 12 games this season and has a current 7-game hit streak.
Last week, Kinsler sent the baseball bat used in his 6-for-6 game to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York for display.
