Day 12 of the 2016 Rio Games features two North Texans making their Olympic debuts and Usain Bolt's return to the track plus two Dallas Mavericks head to the basketball quarterfinals.

CHRISHUNA WILLIAMS MAKES HER OLYMPIC DEBUT
Chrishuna Williams was a member of the North Texas Cheetahs Track Club and attended DeSoto High School and graduated in 2011. She received a full scholarship in track and field and graduated from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville in 2015. On Wednesday, she mdes her Olympic debut in the women's 800 meter.
Unfortunately she finished 6th in Heat 9, only the top two finishers went on to the semifinals.

Bolt already has one Rio gold in the men’s 100m. Now he’s competing in the 200m semifinals as he continues his pursuit to win gold in three events across three Olympic games.

GERINA PILLER MAKES HER OLYMPIC DEBUT ON THE LINKS
Nine of the top 10 in the women's world ranking are competing, compared with a men's Olympic field that included only four of the top 10.
North Texan Gerina Piller, who lives in Flower Mound, is one of the three Americans who qualified. Stacy Lewis and Lexi Thompson round out the American Trio, while no other country had more than two.
Piller shot a 2-under 69 Wednesday and moves on to Thursday's second round.
TEAM USA MEN’S BASKETBALL BEGINS QUARTERFINAL PLAY
The U.S. men's basketball team powered into the semifinals of the Olympics, beating Argentina 105-78 on Wednesday night.
The Americans turned a slow start into an early ending with a 27-2 run in the first half.
They will meet Spain on Friday in a rematch of the last two gold-medal games. Spain beat France 92-67 earlier Wednesday.
UT alum Kevin Durant scored 27 points for the Americans.
ASHTON EATON BEGINS QUEST TO DEFEND OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL
Ashton Eaton earned the title “world’s greatest athlete” by winning decathlon gold medals at the 2012 London Olympics and at the 2013 and 2015 World Championships. In 2015, the Oregon-native became the first decathlete to win the IAAF Athlete of the Year award after breaking his own decathlon world record. He also holds the indoor heptathlon world record, as well as heptathlon gold medals from the 2012, 2014 and 2016 World Indoor Championships.
