5 to Watch Monday: Ice Dancing, Bobsledding, and Speed Skating
Day 10 in Pyeongchang features the Shibutanis' last dance in Pyeongchang, freeski halfpipe fun and more

Canada Wins Gold in Ice Dance; 'Shib Sibs' Take Bronze
Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada won gold in the ice dance, and knocked Team USA’s Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue into fourth place, with a record score of 206.07 points on Tuesday.
France’s Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron took silver. The French pair broke their own world record for a free dance with 123.35 points to “Moonlight Sonata.” But Virtue and Moir answered back, beating France with a new best, 122.40 points.

U.S. Men's Bobsled Struggles as Canada, Germany Share Gold
Canada’s Justin Kripps and Germany’s Francesco Friedrich entered the Olympics as the top two ranked bobsled drivers in the world. After the 2-man event, the debate over who is better remains unsettled.
Kripps and Friedrich finished in a dead tie, both sleds completing the four heats in 3:16.86. Their teams will share the gold medal, while Latvia took the bronze.
The tie capped a thrilling bobsled event, where the top five teams entered the final heat separated by just .12 seconds. America, though, was nowhere near that top five.
U.S. Bobsled is still coping with the loss of Steve Holcomb, who died in May. Holcomb won the bronze in Sochi, becoming the first American to win a bobsled medal in 62 years. Without him, the Americans have struggled.
[[472227223, L]] Justin Olsen and Evan Weinstock led the Americans with a 14th place finish, finishing more than a second and a half behind the Germans and Canadians. Nick Cunningham and Hakeem Abdul-Saboor finished 21st for the U.S., and Codie Bascue and Sam McGuffie finished 25th.
"We're fighting. We're giving it everything we have," Olsen said before Monday's run. "I know it's a longshot for medals and stuff like that, but we've got two more runs to battle it out and see how many places we can move up."
Weinstock said he didn't feel any pressure on his first Olympic stage, and wasn't surprised that Olsen was fine so quickly after surgery.
"It seems like this whole season we've had a lot of setbacks," Weinstock said. "I just know his mentality and I know how tough he is and I knew he wouldn't let this be a setback for both of us. I was confident in his ability to get back as close as he could to 100 percent and I think he's right there."

Like all other individual events, the 500m is raced only once in Pyeongchang, marking a change since Sochi. Starting with the Nagano Games through 2014, skaters raced the 500m twice and the results were based on the total time of the two races.
Norway's Havard Lorentzen won gold, Cha Min-Kyu of South Korea skated to silver and China's Gao Tingyu won bronze.
No American skaters finished in the top 10. Texan Jonathan Garcia put forth the effort but finished 23rd overall. Mitchell Whitmore finished 15th and Kimani Griffin finished 26th.

The United States’ men’s hockey defeated Slovakia 5-1 Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinals.
The Americans beat Slovakia 2-1 in group play last week. It was America’s only win in group play. With National Hockey League players absent in the Olympics, Team USA is comprised of mostly college kids who failed to make it into the professional league.
