Shiffrin Debut in Giant Slalom Cancelled Due to High Winds
Mikaela Shiffrin's debut at the Pyeongchang Winter Games was cancelled about three hours before it was scheduled to begin Monday because of strong winds. It was the second Alpine skiing race called off at the Olympics. The giant slalom was rescheduled for Thursday morning (Wednesday night in the U.S.) however Shiffrin is scheduled to ski in the women's slalom event the day before.

Shiffrin became a breakout American star at the Sochi Olympics, where she became the youngest-ever Olympic slalom champion at age 18. She’s looking to add a lot more hardware this time.
Up first for Shiffrin: The giant slalom. She’ll look to better her fifth-place finish in the event from the 2014 Olympics. She won a silver medal in the giant slalom in the 2017 World Championships.
Lindsey Vonn, another standout American skier, will not compete in the giant slalom.

Team USA Wins Bronze in Team Figure Skating
The team part of the figure skating competition wrapped up Sunday night with Team USA winning bronze behind Canada and the Olympics Athletes from Russia,
The United States was unable to improve upon its third-place finish in Sochi (Russia was first, followed by Canada).

Jamie Anderson Wins Gold in Women's Slopestyle After Delays
Strong winds postponed the women’s snowboard slopestyle Saturday night. As a result all 28 competitors advanced to the finals on Sunday. Normally, the finals consist of three runs with each riders best score counting, but with the elimination of the qualifying round each rider will get two runs instead of three.
Jamie Anderson came out on top with a near flawless first run after a delay in competition Sunday night. Canada's Laurie Bloun finished second, followed by Enni Rukajarvi from Finland.

The World Is Watching Chloe Kim
Kim will be up against a number of her USA counterparts, including Maddie Mastro, Kelly Clark and Arielle Gold. But by most accounts, it's the No. 1 ranked World Cup athlete's race to lose. Assuming she qualifies (would be nuts if she didn't), her halfpipe medal race is Tuesday night.

USA’s Bergsma Shoots for Gold in 1500-Meter Speed Skating
Heather Bergsma once again faded in the 1500-meter speed skating race, finishing eighth at the Pyeongchang Games on Monday.
Bergsma’s teammate, Brittany Bowe, was fifth.
Four years ago in Sochi, Bergsma entered the 1500-meter as a medal favorite — but she struggled there too, finishing seventh. Bergsma beat Wust and Takagi at the 2017 World Championships. Wust had already won a silver medal in Pyeongchang, in the 3000-meter race.
