Friends and family remembered Alex Ford, a college student who was killed when a wrong-way driver hit her head-on in Grand Prairie.
A college student killed when a wrong-way driver collided with her on a Highway 287 in Grand Prairie was remembered at a vigil Friday night.
Alex Ford, 20, was struck head-on Wednesday night while on her way home to Watauga after visiting her boyfriend.
Family and friends gathered at the Keller gym where Ford once coached cheerleading. Loved ones said Ford was smart, funny, outgoing and touched everyone she knew.
"We can't dwell on the negative," one person said. "We have to celebrate her life."
The family of the driver that struck her has expressed its sympathy to Ford's family.
John Layton, 46, was also killed in the crash. People are trying to determine why Layton was heading south in the northbound lanes of Highway 286 near Farm-to-Market 661.
Police said they are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine the cause of the crash.
