Pedestrian Killed Crossing U.S. 287, Police Searching for Driver

U.S. 287 was closed near Mitchell Boulevard in Fort Worth due to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Thursday morning.

A man was fatally struck in a hit-and-run on U.S. 287 in Fort Worth Thursday morning. [[419364774,C]]

Fort Worth police said the man was trying to cross the highway near Mitchell Boulevard at about 5:45 a.m. when he was hit by a driver who fled the scene.

The man was then struck by several other vehicles. Those drivers, police said, stopped and reported the collision.

The pedestrian, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

After closing the highway for several hours, officers reopened all lanes of the highway at about 8:30 a.m.

Police have released no information about the driver or vehicle
