Bodies of two men recovered from underground concrete vault in Tarrant County

Two people have died after crews worked to rescue the victims from a trench in Parker County on Friday, according to Parker County Emergency Services.

Two men died Friday while working in an underground concrete vault, officials say.

Parker County ESD1 said firefighters were called to a technical rescue just before 5 p.m., where two workers were said to have become unresponsive while working in a below-grade space or trench.

Firefighters arrived near 12000 Aledo Iona Road and had to offload gear and take four-wheel drive vehicles to the remote site just across the Tarrant County line. When they arrived, they found two men in an underground concrete vault.

Firefighters put on air tanks to enter the confined space and confirmed the men were deceased. With the rescue operation turned to recovery, the men's bodies were removed shortly after 11 p.m.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the men as 37-year-old Jose Rogelio Segovia and 59-year-old Juan Zuniga Hernandez.

An investigation by the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office is ongoing.
