Two Children Killed in Dallas Fire

A five-year-old boy and four-year-old girl died in a fire that destroyed a home on the 2600 block of Highland Drive in East Dallas. The mother of the two children and an infant survived the flames, but are still recovering from significant burns.

Authorities are trying to determine what caused a weekend apartment fire in Dallas that killed a boy and his little sister, plus left two relatives hurt.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office on Tuesday identified the victims as 5-year-old Yenfry Nathaniel Jimenez and 4-year-old Natalie Martinez.

Investigators said the boy was dead at the scene on Sunday. The girl died hours later at a Dallas hospital.

Authorities said another sibling and the children's mother were hurt in the blaze. Family identified the mother as Erica Martinez. The mother and her infant child remain in the hospital.
