Truck Smashes Into South Dallas Home

A pickup truck slammed into Savanna Willis’ house on Leaning Oaks Street in South Dallas on Wednesday evening.

A Dallas woman had a close call when a pickup truck came crashing through her house Wednesday evening.

The hit was so loud, Savanna Willis' house on Leaning Oaks Street shook. She heard the crash from two rooms over but couldn't see the truck because there was so much dust.

"I didn't know what happened," she said. "I thought, 'I better get to this door and get out of here.'"

Willis got to her front door in her wheelchair. Two people she didn't even know who were outside helped her out.

Then she saw what had happened.

"I said, 'My God. There is a truck up in my house,'" Willis said.

The truck went through the front of the house and into one of the bedrooms. The vehicle ended up on top of a freezer, Willis' daughter said. An air conditioner ended up in the hallway, and there was debris everywhere.

Willis and her daughter, thankful nobody was hurt, spent the evening trying to clean.

"It is just material things. It can be fixed again," Willis said.

Dallas Fire-Rescue was called to help shore up the house.

The driver of the truck did not appear to be seriously injured but was taken to an area hospital.

It was not immediately clear why the drive crashed into the house.
