SWA Flight Veers Off Taxiway in New York

Southwest Airlines Flight 4695 bound for Tampa veered off the taxiway at New York’s Long Island MacArthur Airport and ended up stuck in the mud.

Thursday morning, a Southwest Airlines jet bound for Tampa, Fla., veered off a taxiway and got stuck in mud at an airport on New York's Long Island MacArthur Airport.

Flight 4695 was to leave Ronkonkoma at 6:15 a.m. ET.

There were no injuries to the 129 passengers and five crew members.

Southwest issued a statement on their blog and said all passengers were deplaned and bussed back to the terminal where they were put on a replacement aircraft.  The replacement flight departed Long Island at 11:55 a.m. ET.

Maintenance crews will remove the original aircraft and inspect it for damage.

The area received heavy rain overnight.
