A student pilot and trainer escaped injury Monday after accidentally landing a plane without extending the landing gear.
According to Lynn Lunsford with the Federal Aviation Administration, the student pilot and trainer were doing a touch-and-go landing at the Terrell Municipal Airport when, apparently, neither the student pilot nor the trainer remembered to extend the landing gear.
The plane, a 1962 single-engine Mooney M-20, came down on its belly before coming to rest near the side of runway 17/35.
The plane suffered no visible damage, and neither the student pilot nor the trainer was injured.
The airport is located on the 200 block of Silent Wings Boulevard. Runway 17/35 remains closed while the aircraft is removed from the runway.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
