Sick McKinney Teen Gets Big Surprise at Pep Rally

A McKinney teen fighting through leukemia and Bell’s Palsy was greeted by a pep rally surprise on Monday. The school resource officer of Cockrill Middle School in McKinney ISD organized his own “ice bucket challenge” style fundraiser to benefit Cockrill alumni Cordero Torres. Officer Daryl King was doused with ice water dozens of times over two hours and raised $1,000. The Torres family is considering donating the money toward pediatric cancer research.
